The article highlights the participation of Zakaria Jaouadi, CEO of REG, as a guest jury member at the Faculty of Sciences of Tunis for the master’s thesis defense of Ms. Abir Fatnassi. Her research, titled "Valorization of Construction Material Waste," focuses on recycling construction debris into unfired bricks, contributing to sustainable development and the circular economy.

------------
Demolition and construction waste can be repurposed into durable prefabricated
elements like curbs, interlocking pavers, and slabs for infrastructure and
landscaping. Recycled aggregates, made from crushed rubble, concrete, and
bricks, are combined with binders to create versatile, eco-friendly products. These
elements reduce reliance on virgin materials, lower CO₂ emissions, and promote a
circular economy. Properly treated, they match the durability and strength of
traditional materials, offering sustainable solutions for modern construction
projects.

------------
Recycled asphalt, or reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP), is made by blending
materials from old pavements with new binders and aggregates. This eco-friendly
solution reduces the need for virgin resources, cutting costs and minimizing
environmental impact. It offers durable, high-performance roads with lower
maintenance requirements. Recycling can be done on-site or at specialized
plants, depending on project needs. However, strict quality control and material
testing are essential to ensure the final product meets safety and durability
standards.

Testimonials
We have worked with thousands of exceptional individuals!
Congratulations to Respect Environnement Group Tunisia, the first company specializing in the recovery of construction and demolition waste in Tunisia, Africa, and the Arab world. They are the main partner in the RE-MED project, co-financed by the European Union.

The project aims to find alternative solutions to avoid overexploitation of natural resources, such as recycling and reusing waste, thereby promoting environmental sustainability and creating new economic opportunities

This initiative is part of the ministry's strategy to transition from a linear economy to a circular economy, enhancing competitiveness, fostering sustainable economic growth, efficiently managing waste, and diversifying raw resources.

We are proud to have initiated the implementation of the circular economy in the construction sector in Tunisia and thus contributed to its ecological and economic transition with our partner Respect Environnement Group.

The hydraulic recycled aggregates and milling produced by Respect Environnement Group Tunisia were used in the construction of an experimental road RN3 in Ben Arous, as part of the European project RE-MED, led by Cerema.
🌍 Innovation at the service of the circular economy and adaptation to climate change.
